Embark on a full-day tour from Arequipa to the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world. Enjoy a light breakfast in Chivay, see the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, and stop at the Antahuilque viewpoint. Take a dip in the Chacapi hot springs and see the Mirador de los Volcanes.
Start your day with a pickup from the meeting point in Arequipa. After a 3-hour drive, arrive in the picturesque Andean town of Chivay. Enjoy a light breakfast with local specialities at an altitude of over 3000 metres above sea level.
Head to the Cruz del Condor viewpoint, just 50 minutes from Chivay. Spend an hour at the viewpoint admiring the breathtaking views of the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world. Keep an eye out for the Andean condor, the largest bird in the world, as it soars through the sky.
Continue your journey by road and stop at some of the area's viewpoints, such as Antahuilque, to continue admiring the views, including hanging tombs, lithic models, and terraces from the pre-Inca and Inca periods.
Next, stop at the Chacapi hot springs, where you'll have 45 minutes to enjoy the healing waters. If you don't want to enter the hot springs, you can take the opportunity to go ziplining or kayaking on your own.
Return to Chivay at around 12:00 PM, where you'll have free time to grab some lunch. Continue your journey and stop at the Mirador de los Volcanes, where you can see the Chila mountain range, the Ampato and Hualca Hualca snow-capped mountains, the Sabancaya volcano, and the Pichu Pichu volcano.
Finally, drive through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, a majestic natural area where you'll see the silhouettes of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes on the horizon.
