What you can expect

Start your tour at the Fribourg railway station which is located in the heart of the city centre. From here, we will walk towards the square known as Place Georges-Python. The square hosts various events depending on the seasons.

You will see the building which dates back to the early 16th century which is now used as a Town Hall. It is currently the seat of the Cantonal Parliament and Tribunal.

Built in gothic style, the St. Nicholas Cathedral is a famous landmark in Friborg. It was completed in the late 15th century. Its tower stands tall at 74 metres high. Here, you will see religious art on its stained glass windows designed by the Polish painter Jozef Mehoffer.

Walk on the Pont du Milieu (Middle bridge) which will take you back centuries. It was built in the later half of the 13th century, has 4 arches and spans approximately 70 metres in length.

Spanning about 41 metres in length, you will visit the bridge known as Berne. It was constructed in the 13th century, however, was later upgraded. The present version of the bridge dates back to the second half of the 17th century. The bridge played an important role as before the construction of this bridge, the Saane river had to be crossed by ferry.

Finish your tour at the fountain designed by the famous artist Jean Tinguely in 1984 in memory of his friend, who was a Formula 1 driver. Jo Siffert was born in Fribourg and died in the 1971 world championship victory race in Kent, England.
