What you can expect

  • Cocoa plays a key role in the history of Spain.

Take advantage of your time in the city and discover the world of cocoa and chocolate right in the store, learning about the curiosities and our own history.

When you arrive at our store, we will welcome you with our classic food tasting of the original recipe for the traditional hot chocolate with cinnamon. Meanwhile, through an audiovisual presentation, we will travel to the origins of cocoa to learn about the historical importance of cocoa in Spain, one of the first European countries to receive this valuable ingredient from the Americas and to develop a true chocolate culture. We'll explore how chocolate went from being a drink exclusively for the nobility to becoming a tradition deeply rooted in our cuisine and celebrations. We'll tell you all the fun facts and show you the essential item that was key to tasting chocolate in the 16th century and that we still use today.
We'll then go through the plantations and learn about the harvesting, fermentation, and drying of cocoa at source until we reach the factory where we begin the roasting process. Since 1840, at our Catalan chocolate house, we've been working according to a philosophy of comprehensive process control, making chocolate “bean to bar,” that is, from the cocoa bean to the final bar.
As we explore the Simón Coll universe, we'll enjoy a guided tasting of a diamond chocolate, a unique creation that combines flavour, aromas, and texture in an authentic sensory experience.

This personalised service continues with an introduction to our other brand, Chocolate Amatller, one of the oldest brands in Europe that is still active today, dating back to 1797, and whose collections are still being produced in our factory.
One of the most distinctive features of Chocolate Amatller is its iconic designs inspired by Catalan Modernism. The brand collaborated with leading illustrators and artists of the time to create wrappers, posters, and cards that are now considered authentic works of art. These works reflect the aesthetic richness of the modernist movement, characterised by the elegance and beauty of its forms, inspiration from nature, and attention to every detail.

The iconic Chocolate Amatller tins and wrappers bring back this artistic legacy, turning each bar into a small homage to Modernist Barcelona. Through its designs, the brand has managed to combine two great pleasures: the enjoyment of chocolate and the admiration of art.
This explanation culminates with a tasting of a leaf-shaped chocolate from Chocolate Amatller.

Finally, the experience in the shop culminates with new food tastings where we invite you to discover not only the quality of our chocolates, but also the history, creativity, and cultural heritage behind each of our creations.
