Discover the hidden gardens of Florence on a guided walking tour. Explore the Stibbert Garden, Villa Fabbricotti Park, Orti del Parnaso, and Parco dell’Orticoltura. Enjoy a picnic in the park with fruit juices and traditional sweets or ice cream.
Start your tour at the Stibbert Garden. Admire the elegant 19th-century style of the park, which was restored by Frederick Stibbert, a rich Anglo-Florentine collector. See the small neoclassical temple and a lake with an original Egyptian temple.
Next, head to Villa Fabbricotti Park. This park is much loved by Florentine families with children. It is the garden of the villa where Paolina Buonaparte, Napoleon's sister, died in 1825. This park is full of cypresses and other centuries-old trees, which surround immense areas where you can run and walk on the lawns.
Continue to Orti del Parnaso. Admire a breathtaking close-up view of Florence, with the enormous dome, the palaces, and the tall towers of the city. See a strange fountain in the shape of a dragon that stands out on the main staircase.
Finally, visit Parco dell’Orticoltura. The Società Toscana di Horticoltura was founded in 1854 to encourage the care of parks and landscape architecture in Tuscany. The headquarters of the company was right here, where an elegant “tepidarium” in Art Nouveau style was built, the work of the architect Giacomo Roster.
See a completely different building from those you are used to seeing in Florence. It was made of glass and cast iron to protect the most fragile plants. In addition to the many ornamental and fruit plants, in the garden, you will also find the delightful Loggetta Bondi, neo-Renaissance with glazed terracotta decorations.
