What you can expect

  • Embark on an unforgettable day trip from Tokyo to explore the stunning natural wonders of the Izu Peninsula. This journey blends unique volcanic landscapes, panoramic ocean views, and a breathtaking coastal hike.

Volcanic Wonders & Fairytale Oases Our first stop introduces you to Mount Omuro, famously nicknamed the “Matcha Pudding of Izu” for its smooth, grassy slopes. Take the scenic cable car to the top and walk the 360-degree circular trail for incredible panoramic views—a landscape so striking it served as the prototype for the meteorite crater in the film Your Name.

Next, discover the enchanting Izu Cactus Park, a true fairytale oasis at the foot of the volcano. Explore Japan’s largest desert plant park, featuring a surreal maze of towering cacti. Adding to the charm, adorable animals like capybaras, meerkats, and kangaroos roam freely, creating a soothing theatre of desert and cute animals.

Scenic Train & Coastal Drama The adventure continues aboard the Izu Sea Viewing Train Resort 21 (either the Black Ship or Golden Eye Sea Bream Train). This panoramic route winds along the cliffs of Izu’s east coast, where the Pacific Ocean outside your window transforms into a flowing sapphire. As you traverse the Golden Route section, passing through tunnels and over bridges, the views evoke a magical “sea railway fantasy” reminiscent of Spirited Away.

Finally, we head to the dramatic Jogasaki Coast, a wild gallery carved by the cooling lava flow from Mt. Omuro. Witness the powerful ocean as waves crash against 30-meter-high black cliffs. The climax of the coast is the Kadowaki Suspension Bridge: a narrow, 48-meter-long bridge spanning a canyon 23 metres above the deep blue trench, offering an exhilarating walk “on the waves in the air.”
