What you can expect

Begin your guided experience in East London with a convenient pickup from the cruise ship terminal, port, hotel, or any accommodation within the city. Start with a scenic drive along the city’s beachfront promenade, passing key landmarks such as Heroes Park and the historic German Settlers Monument. Enjoy views of the newly renovated beachfront, complete with vibrant stalls and the iconic Southern Right Whale sculpture, before continuing through the city and onto its outskirts.

From here, head along the N2 for approximately 45 minutes towards Mooiplaas. Upon arrival, venture into nearby coastal villages, offering a glimpse into local life and the natural surroundings. This marks the beginning of your guided hike, which lasts approximately two and a half to three hours.

The trail winds through lush indigenous forest, gradually opening up to breathtaking viewpoints overlooking a dramatic river meander. Along the way, your guide will share insights into Xhosa people culture, as well as the region’s plant life, wildlife, and rich history. From the viewpoint, descend towards the coastline, where the landscape shifts from forest to open beach.

Cross the Kwenxura River mouth before continuing along a long, flat stretch of sandy beach. The route then leads to another crossing at the Cefane River, after which you make your way towards Chintsa. Upon arrival, enjoy a well-deserved lunch at Crawford's Beach Lodge.

After lunch, take time to relax, explore the surrounding area, or browse local craft markets showcasing handmade goods. The excursion concludes with a comfortable return journey to East London, where you will be dropped off at the port terminal, your hotel, or your chosen accommodation.
