What you can expect

  • Discover the volcanic landscapes of northern Costa Rica on a full-day excursion to Rincón de la Vieja National Park.

Your experience begins with a guided hike along the Las Pailas volcanic trail, where you can observe geothermal features including bubbling mud pots, steaming fumaroles, sulphur vents, and volcanic rock formations. Your guide will provide information about the area's volcanic activity and surrounding landscape.

As you walk through the surrounding forest, keep an eye out for wildlife such as monkeys, birds, iguanas, and other animals that inhabit the area. Wildlife sightings are possible but cannot be guaranteed.

Continue to Oropéndola Waterfall, where a short walk leads to a scenic waterfall surrounded by tropical vegetation. Depending on current conditions and access, guests can enjoy the surroundings and take photographs.

After the outdoor activities, enjoy a traditional Costa Rican lunch before beginning the return journey to your hotel.

This experience combines volcanic geology, hiking, wildlife observation, and one of Guanacaste's scenic waterfalls in a single day.
