What you can expect

Embark on a journey from Barcelona to Montserrat Monastery, located on a sacred mountain just outside the city. Choose the option that suits you best: enjoy return transport and visit the Basilica independently at your own pace, or select the Full Experience, which includes a guided visit, a scenic rack railway ride, and a traditional liqueur tasting.

If you choose the Transfer + Basilica option, travel by bus from Barcelona to Montserrat and enjoy free time to explore the site independently. Visit the Basilica and admire the famous Black Madonna, known as La Moreneta, at your own pace. Please note that this option does not include a guided tour, rack railway ride, access to the Throne of the Virgin, the Audiovisual Space, or the liqueur tasting.

If you choose the Full Experience, meet your guide in Barcelona and set off towards Montserrat. After travelling through the Catalan countryside, reach the foot of the mountain and continue the ascent on the scenic rack railway. Built at the end of the 19th century to improve access to the sanctuary for pilgrims and devotees, the railway offers spectacular views of Montserrat's dramatic landscape.

Once at the top, your guide will accompany you on a visit to the monastery and Basilica. Admire the impressive complex built into the mountainside and learn about its history, architecture, and importance to Catalonia's cultural and spiritual heritage. You will also have the opportunity to see the famous Black Madonna, La Moreneta, inside the Royal Basilica.

During the Full Experience, you will also visit the Throne of the Virgin and the Audiovisual Space, where you can learn more about the history and traditions of Montserrat. If available, you may also have the chance to hear the Escolania de Montserrat, one of Europe's oldest boys' choirs.

To finish the Full Experience, enjoy a tasting of traditional liqueurs made by the monks of Montserrat before heading back to Barcelona.

Whichever option you choose, you will discover the spectacular landscapes and rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Montserrat.
