Mysterious and Natural Tirana – From Urban Secrets to the Green Lung of the City
Tirana is not only a capital in constant transformation; it is a city with layers of history, hidden corners, and green spaces that surprise you at every turn. On this free sightseeing tour, I invite you to discover its most human, intriguing, and natural side.
We'll start in Skanderbeg Square, the vibrant heart of the city, where you'll discover the great symbols of Albania: the historic Et'hem Bey Mosque, the Clock Tower, the National Museum with its imposing socialist mural, the National Library, the Italian-era ministries, Bunk'Art 2, and the majestic Orthodox Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ. We'll also explore Tirana Castle, a former walled area now transformed into a charming hub of cafés and craft shops, and visit the grand Namazgja Mosque, one of the most important in the Balkans.
We'll stroll along the main boulevard until we reach the iconic Pyramid of Tirana, a landmark steeped in history and controversy, originally dedicated to the dictator Enver Hoxha.
After that, we'll head into the famous Blloku district, which was an exclusive area for the ruling elite during the communist regime. There, I'll show you Hoxha's own house and tell you what life was like under the strict control of the regime and how everything has changed since its fall.
We'll then continue to Mother Teresa Square, home to the Air Albania Stadium, the University of Arts, and the Polytechnic University, key centers of Tirana's cultural and educational life.
And to round off the tour with an unforgettable contrast, we'll walk to Tirana's Artificial Lake, the city's largest park, considered by locals to be its green lung. Here you can relax, breathe in the fresh air, and see how the people of Tirana enjoy their everyday lives surrounded by nature.
This sightseeing tour is not just a history lesson: it's a living experience where culture, memory, street art, and nature intertwine.
