What you can expect

  • For anyone who is keen on being immersed in the beauty of nature, taking an amazing boat trip as well as exploring the ruins dating back to the 8th - 11th century Mon-Khmer and visiting local villages, this day trip to Nam Leuk Nature is a perfect choice.

    You will leave Vientiane on the road No 13 for a car or minivan excursion to reach the Nam Ngum Reservoir, around 100 kilometres from Vientiane. Along the way, you can make a stop to visit the Hmong village, where you can visit both the colourful local market and the friendly local people. After that, you can visit the Archaeological Site of Vang Xang which was constructed during the Hmong-Khmer Empire between the 8th and 11th century. At lunchtime, you will arrive at Nam Ngum Reservoir and enjoy lunch served at the boat restaurant on the lake.

    After having lunch, you will embark for a boat ride to explore the colourful fishing villages in the islands. Along the way back to Vientiane on the road No 10, you can visit a traditional salt abstraction site at Ban Keun and keep on moving to Dong Mark Khai Market where you can see local merchants and hawkers gather to do business.

    In the late afternoon, you will return to your hotel in Vientiane.
