Departing from Hammamet, enjoy a full-day trip to two of Tunisia's most remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the holy city of Kairouan and the Roman amphitheatre of El Jem.
Your journey begins with a comfortable hotel pick-up, followed by a scenic drive to Kairouan, the first Islamic capital of the Maghreb. Surrounded by ancient sandstone walls, the historic old town reveals a fascinating medina: a maze of narrow streets, whitewashed houses with colourful shutters and elegant brick arcades.
Visit the Great Mosque of Kairouan, an architectural masterpiece and one of the most important monuments of the Islamic world. Stroll among its elegant columns and arches, admire the finely carved stone and discover the vast prayer hall, the arcaded courtyard and the iconic minaret that characterise this historic complex.
Continue to the Mausoleum of Sidi Sahbi, with its magnificent decoration, famous for its superb ceramics and stucco ornamentation. Enjoy some free time to explore the traditional souks before stopping for a local lunch.
In the afternoon, head to El Jem to explore its impressive Roman amphitheatre, the third-largest ever built by the Roman Empire. Once capable of accommodating up to 35,000 spectators, this monumental structure invites you to imagine the spectacular gladiatorial fights that once took place within its walls.
At the end of the tour, sit back and relax on the return journey to Hammamet, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.
