Activity itinerary

Zona Arqueologica de Monte Alban

  • 2h
  • Admission ticket included
Monte Albán is an ancient and imposing pre-Hispanic Zapotec city, located only 20 minutes (8 km) from the centre of Oaxaca de Juárez. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it stands out for its ceremonial architecture, a large central square and its strategic location on top of a hill. Coming to Oaxaca and not visiting Monte Alban is like arriving and not tasting your food.

San Antonio Arrazola

  • 45m
San Antonio Arrazola (belonging to the municipality of Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán, Oaxaca) is known worldwide as the birthplace of the Alebrijes. Located only 12.1 km (about 20 to 30 minutes) southwest of the city of Oaxaca, this picturesque town stands out for its colourful streets and workshops where artisans make unique pieces from copal wood.

Teotitlan del Valle

  • 45m
Teotitlán del Valle is an emblematic Zapotec town located just 30 km (45 minutes) east of Oaxaca City. It is world famous for its wool mats woven on a pedal loom and dyed with 100% natural pigments such as cochineal grain and indigo.

Mercado Tlacolula

  • 1h
The Tlacolula Market (whose main space is the Martín González Municipal Market) is the largest, oldest and most important indigenous tiangui in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca. Although the building opens all week, its true splendour occurs only on Sundays, when it is transformed into a gigantic market that floods the neighbouring streets with traditional commerce and centuries-old practices such as Zapotec barter.

Zona Arqueologica de Mitla

  • 45m
  • Admission ticket included
The Archaeological Zone of Mitla is the second most important ceremonial centre of the state of Oaxaca and the main political and religious axis of Zapotec culture in the Tlacolula Valley after the fall of Monte Albán. Its name comes from the Nahuatl Mictlan, which means "place of the dead", while in Zapotec it is known as Lyobáa, or "resting place"

El Rey de Matatlan

  • 45m
The King of Matatlan is an emblematic family brand and palenque of artisanal and ancestral mezcal, located in the region of Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca, an area globally recognised as the "Mezcal Capital of the World". With a tradition dating back to 1950, the Palenque is currently operated by the fifth generation of master rockers of the Santiago family. The brand stands out both for its catalogue of organic distillates of limited production which is a must stop on tours to Mitla
