Meeting/Redemption Point

    • Carretera Villanueva-Arenal, KilĆ³metro 1, Villanueva, BolĆ­var, Colombia | The reserve is located approximately one hour from Cartagena. To get there from Cartagena, we recommend taking the northern exit of the city and following the main road towards Villanueva, BolĆ­var. After passing through the town of Villanueva, continue driving for approximately 800 meters. On the right-hand side of the road, you will find a gate with two green signs displaying the foundationā€™s logoā€”this is the entrance to the reserve. It is very important that you inform us when you depart from Cartagena, so we can be attentive to your arrival and assist if needed. Please note that transportation is not included in this experience. However, we also offer an optional private transportation service for USD 75, which includes round-trip transfer from Cartagena. This service is available for up to 4 passengers.

Start with a traditional breakfast by the lake, followed by an engaging talk from biologists about the rehabilitation and release of parrots and macaws. Help preparing and delivering the food to these majestic birds before setting off on a 15-kilometer horseback ride guided by an expert biologist.

Ride through vibrant trails surrounded by mountains, taking in stunning panoramic views and immersing yourself in the reserveā€™s beauty. Encounter monkeys, parrots, macaws, and other wildlife along the way.

Meet local farmers and taste freshly harvested tropical fruits as you explore. End your adventure by planting a tree, contributing to the preservation of this unique ecosystem.

To complete your journey, enjoy a delicious seasonal local fruit snack accompanied by a refreshing drink, the perfect way to unwind and take in the natural beauty of the reserve.

Important: Please remember that it is not permitted to feed the animals directly, or touch them. All activities take place under the supervision of our trained foundation staff, as this is a rehabilitation centre, not a zoo.
