Discover some of the most iconic sites in the Puno region on this 2-day programme that combines archaeological heritage, altiplano landscapes, and the living culture of Lake Titicaca.
On the first day, you'll visit the Chullpas of Sillustani, an impressive burial complex located on the shores of Lake Umayo. During the tour, you'll also learn about the ancient waru-waru, pre-Hispanic agricultural systems, and have the chance to get to know local communities to learn about aspects of their culture and way of life.
On day 2, you'll enjoy an excursion on Lake Titicaca. You'll take a speedboat to the Uros Floating Islands, where you'll learn about the traditions of their communities, and then continue on to Taquile Island to explore its landscapes, culture, and crafts before returning to Puno.
Trip Itinerary:
Day 1 – Chullpas of Sillustani and Lake Umayo
2:00 p.m.: Hotel pickup and start of the tour to the Chullpas of Sillustani.
Along the way, you'll stop to learn about the waru-warus, ancient pre-Hispanic agricultural systems, and visit the homes of local residents to learn about aspects of their culture and lifestyle.
Upon arrival at Sillustani, you will explore the archaeological complex and its imposing chullpas, funerary structures associated with the ancient cultures that inhabited the altiplano. The tour ends with a view of Lake Umayo before returning to your hotel at approximately 5:30 PM.
Day 2 – Uros Floating Islands and Taquile Island
7:00 AM: Pick-up from your hotel and transfer to the port of Puno to begin your cruise on Lake Titicaca.
The first stop will be at the Uros floating islands, built with totora reeds. Learn about their living culture, lifestyle, and traditions, and see their handicrafts and local creations.
Continue to Taquile Island, where you'll have time to explore the community, admire its landscapes, and learn about its traditions. You'll also have the opportunity to purchase local handicrafts before returning to Puno at approximately 3:30 p.m.
