Uyo Uyo was occupied at different stages: first by the Collagua culture (around 1300 AD), then by the Incas (1400 AD), and finally by the Spanish following the conquest.
Although most of the complex dates back to the Collagua period, Inca structures can still be seen integrated into the site.
Centuries ago, it was an important and highly populated settlement, from which the valley was strategically controlled. Its dwellings, shrines, and storage buildings still feature high, rustic stone walls, built using ancient techniques that reflect the life and organisation of its former inhabitants.
This tour is perfect for combining nature, culture, and history while enjoying the unique experience of horseback riding through the Colca Valley.
