Start your tour at the Rathaus (the Town-hall) located on the Poststrasse 33. Here you will see the building in Gothic style which replaced previous construction here which was destroyed due to fire in 1464. The unique features of this building are a sloping roof ridge and a roof rider.
You will walk through Kornplatz (the Corn Square) which has a lot of historical significance. Today, it connects the old town and the new town of Chur. It was previously known with a different name.
As we continue from the Corn Square, we will move on to see the St. Martinsplatz square which is located in the heart of the town. Here, you will see many historic buildings and many cafes around.
Next, you will visit St. Martin’s Church which is named after St. Martin, Bishop of Tours, and dates back to the 8th century. The first cathedral on site dates back to the 5th century while the current building was constructed between 1150 and 1272 and is about 800 years old. The Cathedral is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and is one of the most important cultural sites in Switzerland.
Located in the heart of the Old town, You will have a chance to see the flea market and other events at Arcas Square, one of the most beautiful squares in Chur.
