Step away from the rush and into a slower rhythm of living with a private indigo journey in Chiang Dao. Enjoy a gentle, immersive experience where time softens, and each moment is shaped by nature, craft, and human connection.
Over four unhurried hours, be introduced to the indigo plant, an ancient source of blue with a storey that spans centuries. Guided by Aunty Hui, the studio’s founder, quietly explore the life of indigo: from seed to leaf, from harvest to the delicate process of extracting its natural pigment.
The experience unfolds through touch and intention. Dye the items with organic indigo dye vat and work with traditional cold-dye techniques, allowing the fabric to absorb colour slowly and naturally. Through Japanese resist-dye methods such as Shibori and Itajime, create patterns that reflect your own pace and perspective subtle, personal, and unrepeatable.
After a home-cooked lunch, thoughtfully prepared without MSG (vegan options available upon request), continue with a more intimate process: working with fresh indigo leaves. Using a wooden mallet, gently imprint the leaves directly onto a cotton bandana creating soft, organic forms shaped by nature itself.
Take home your creations, including a cotton bandana, a cotton shawl or T-shirt, and an additional cotton bandana created with fresh indigo leaves. Each piece carries the quiet imprint of your time here, designed not only to be used, but to be lived with.
