What you can expect

Morning: Pandas in the Morning Light

Your private driver and English-speaking guide meet you at your Chengdu hotel. A short 40-minute drive brings you to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, arriving just as the pandas are at their most active—munching bamboo, tumbling over each other, and climbing trees in the cool morning air.

Your guide knows the best viewing spots and the panda schedule: which enclosures have the newest cubs, where the red pandas are hiding, and when the feeding sessions happen. Walk the bamboo-lined paths as your guide shares stories about panda conservation and why these black-and-white bears became China's most beloved ambassadors.

You'll have ample time to watch the pandas at your own pace, snap photos of the impossibly cute babies in the nursery, and visit the panda museum before the crowds arrive.

Midday: A Taste of Sichuan

After the pandas, settle into your private vehicle for the drive to Mount Qingcheng. Lunch is at your own expense. Your guide will recommend an authentic local restaurant near the mountain where you can savour classic Sichuan dishes. Your guide is happy to assist with menu translation and ordering.

Afternoon: The Birthplace of Taoism

Arrive at Mount Qingcheng, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most sacred Taoist mountains in China. This is where Zhang Daoling founded the Way of the Celestial Masters nearly 2,000 years ago, and where Taoist sages have meditated among misty peaks ever since.

Board the cable car—already included in your tour—and glide above the dense forest canopy to the mountain's upper reaches. From here, your guide leads you along ancient stone paths through misty woods, past weathered Taoist temples where incense drifts through quiet courtyards.

Visit Shangqing Palace, the highest temple on the mountain at 1,600 metres. Your guide shares the legends of Taoist sages who sought immortality here and explains the philosophy of harmony between humans and nature that was born among these very peaks.

Pause at Yuecheng Lake, where emerald waters mirror the surrounding mountains. Explore Tianshi Cave, the grotto where Zhang Daoling is said to have founded the first Taoist community.

Your guide ensures the pace matches your group—no rush, no rigid schedule, just a mountain experienced at your own rhythm.

Return to Chengdu

Your driver returns you to your Chengdu hotel, carrying memories of baby pandas and sacred peaks—from Sichuan's cutest residents to its most spiritual mountain, all in one seamless day.
