What you can expect

  • Meet your science facilitator at the Oratoire d'Orgeval in Chartreuse, less than an hour from Grenoble. In a small group of maximum 10 people, take part in a real sky-reading workshop led by a research engineer from the Institute of Planetology and Astrophysics of Grenoble.

The evening begins with a presentation of the sky as it is actually visible and the objects that can be observed. Using a laser pointer, learn how to find the celestial north, recognise the main constellations, and find several landmarks on your own after the session.

Then, learn how the telescope works. Look through the eyepiece to explore, depending on the date and conditions, the Moon, planets, star clusters, nebulae, or galaxies. The small group size allows you to take the time to observe and ask any questions you may have.

No prerequisites are required. The session lasts 2 hours and takes place entirely outdoors.
