Parque de los Hippies

We will start our tour in the Park of the Hippies, one of the most emblematic places of Chapinero. This space, which in the sixties was a meeting point for youth movements, artists and thinkers, retains a free and bohemian spirit to this day. Surrounded by cafes, bookshops and alternative shops, the park reflects the diverse and creative identity of the area, making it the perfect point to begin discovering the history, art and urban life of this area of Bogotá.

Theatron

This stop addresses the formation of the LGBTIQ+ district in Chapinero, explaining how urban, social and cultural factors gave rise to safe spaces since the 1970s and how these evolved to consolidate a diverse nightlife, economic and community. It contextualises the phenomenon within global routes of iconic LGBT areas and highlights the role of activism and public policies in Bogotá in expanding rights. Finally, Theatron is presented as a symbol of freedom, visibility and celebration, explaining the two dynamics of the sector: a traditional area by day and a diverse and vibrant territory by night.

Special Jurisdiction for Peace

During the tour we will also pass through the headquarters of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP), one of the most important institutions created after the Peace Agreement in Colombia. This is where the search for truth, justice and reparation for the victims of the armed conflict is promoted. His presence in Chapinero symbolises the country’s commitment to reconciliation and the construction of lasting peace, integrating into this urban environment a space dedicated to memory and dialogue.

CASA GAITÁN CORTÉS BOUTIQUE HOTEL

Another highlight of the tour is Casa Gaitán Cortés, an architectural and cultural gem that preserves the memory of one of the most influential families in Colombia’s political and social history. This carefully restored space combines heritage elements with contemporary proposals, functioning today as a place for reflection, art and dialogue. Its presence in Chapinero reflects the historical richness of the area and its role in the urban and cultural transformation processes of Bogotá.

Four Seasons Hotel Casa Medina Bogota

During the tour you will also know the Four Seasons Casa Medina, an icon of Bogota architecture and example of how the Chapinero area has managed to integrate history with modernity. This building, declared cultural heritage, preserves the original materials of former colonial houses, and today represents the transformation of the sector into a vibrant space where tradition, gastronomy and high-level hospitality coexist.

Villa Adelaida

Another highlight of the tour is Villa Adelaide, one of Chapinero’s most iconic buildings. Barrio Quinta Camacho

On the tour we will also explore Quinta Camacho, one of the most charming areas of Chapinero. This area is characterised by its English-style houses, built in brick at the beginning of the 20th century, which give it a unique European air in Bogotá. Today, many of these residences have been restored and converted into cafes, galleries, shops and restaurants, preserving their traditional essence while integrating into modern and cosmopolitan city life.

We will finish the tour in the Wilborada 1047 Bookshop, a cultural space that has become a meeting point for readers, artists and history lovers. Located in a beautiful heritage house in Chapinero, Wilborada retains the architectural charm of the area and offers a warm atmosphere that invites you to enjoy reading, art and good conversation, reflecting the creative and diverse spirit of this area of Bogotá.
