Leave the bustling city behind and travel west towards the majestic island of Saint Theodorou. As you tour the southern side, look up to gaze upon the massive, imposing cave. According to local legend, the island is the body of a petrified dragon, with its mouth still gaping open.
Nowadays, this place is dedicated to the protection of the Cretan wild mountain goat, the Kri-Kri, and is a restful haven for migratory birds. In the protected bay, we will drop anchor and enjoy a refreshing dip in the turquoise waters, as well as some refreshments on board. Don’t forget to ask for a mask and snorkel to check out the crashed WWII aeroplane.
Next, continue your voyage towards Lazaretta, with its beautiful sandy beach and charming white chapel. A leper colony during Venetian occupation, this little island has a remarkable history. Swim towards it, and immerse yourself in the life stories of generations past. Feel time slowing down as you write your own history with this dramatic backdrop of raw Cretan landscape.
