Discover canyoning in the Gorges de Chailles, an adventure canyon located in the heart of the Chartreuse mountain range, on the border between Isère and Savoie. This wild, steep-sided route offers an athletic and immersive canyoning experience, ideal in summer, from mid-June to August, when the temperatures allow you to fully enjoy the water.
This canyoning experience is intended for athletic individuals who are comfortable in the water and in good physical condition. It is imperative that you can swim and enjoy long water sections, as most of the route is in the water, with periods of sometimes strenuous swimming.
The programme includes numerous jumps, abseiling, technical water sections, water games, and a short via ferrata-style section to round out the adventure. The setting is deeply enclosed and untamed, providing a spectacular backdrop and a fully immersive experience within the canyon.
The descent is divided into three main sections: a highly enjoyable and dynamic first section, a calmer second section where you let the current carry you along, and then a long final corridor of about 300 metres (980 feet) that you swim through, which is the true highlight of the route. After exiting the canyon, a challenging 30- to 45-minute climb takes you back to the end point.
Led by a certified canyoning guide, this outing is perfect for those who love water, thrills, and adventure and are looking for a challenging and memorable canyoning experience in the Chartreuse Mountains.
