Leave the bustle of Budapest behind and immerse yourself in the natural beauty and refreshing waters of Lake Balaton.
The Adventure Begins: A Unique Ride
Your journey starts at Balatonföldvár railway station, where your guide will meet you with a truly unique, retro Japanese Kei car minibus. This one-of-a-kind vehicle features a full panoramic glass roof that can be rolled all the way back, offering an open-air sense of freedom and unobstructed views as we cruise along the coast.
Secret Views & Untouched Nature
Before boarding the ferry, we explore two hidden gems on the southern shore. First, we'll visit an intimate lookout point for a stunning overhead view of the Tihany Peninsula and the vast lake. Afterwards, we’ll head down to a secret waterfront spot right by the waves. Featuring a charming little pier, this hidden location offers a rare chance to experience Lake Balaton’s original, untouched wildlife up close.
Scenic Ferry Crossing
Next, we board the ferry to cross the lake to the iconic Tihany Peninsula—enjoying the breeze and the beautiful water along the way.
Hike to the Best Viewpoint
Explore Tihany’s unique volcanic landscape on a 6 km guided hike. We’ll trek up to the Őrtorony lookout, widely considered the best viewpoint of Lake Balaton. From here, you’ll enjoy a breathtaking, 360-degree vista over the turquoise water, the peninsula's hidden inner lakes, and the rolling hills of the northern shore.
Nature & Lavender Experience
After the hike, we’ll visit the Lavender House Visitor Centre, operated by the Balaton-uplands National Park. This eco-friendly stop is the perfect place to immerse yourself in the peninsula's botanical heritage. You can explore their interactive exhibits, stroll through the peaceful lakeside park, or browse authentic local lavender products. Don't miss the chance to try the famous lavender ice cream, a local summer speciality!
Heritage & Leisure
Following the lavender experience, we'll head to the charming cobblestone streets of the old village leading to the historic Tihany Abbey. You will have one hour of free time here to soak in the atmosphere, take photos at the panoramic promenade, or enjoy a traditional Hungarian snack (not included).
Summer Beach Finale
After exploring Tihany, we return to the southern shore for the perfect summer finale. Your guide will lead you to a beautiful beach in Balatonföldvár, where the guided portion of the tour concludes. It’s the ideal spot to cool off, swim, and relax after the morning’s hike.
Note: The beach entrance fee is approximately 1,700 HUF per person.
Easy Return to Budapest
Balatonföldvár railway station is just a short 800-meter walk away from the beach, making it incredibly easy to catch your train back to Budapest whenever you are ready.
