Zapatoca, known as the “City of the Silk Climate,” is establishing itself as a must-visit destination in Santander. In 2023, it received the “Best Tourism Villages” award from the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), which recognises it as one of the world's best villages for rural tourism. Located just 2 hours from Bucaramanga, the journey to this destination is an experience in itself, as it passes through the imposing Suárez River Canyon, where you can admire pineapple and prickly pear plantations and spot wild goats in the landscape.

In Zapatoca, you'll find places steeped in history and nature, such as the Nitro Cave, a natural formation used in ancient times by indigenous peoples as a shelter and which today is the only cave in Colombia with interior lighting. You can also explore the historic Caminos de Lengerke, which connect to the urban area, adorned with centuries-old churches, colonial architecture, and a peaceful atmosphere that preserves the essence of heritage villages. Without a doubt, it's a destination that combines culture, history, and unique landscapes to enjoy at every turn.
