The Topocoro Reservoir, located 1½ hours from Bucaramanga, is a body of water covering 7,000 hectares in six municipalities of the department (San Vicente de Chucurí, Betulia, Zapatoca, Girón, Lebrija, and Los Santos) and from where energy is harnessed to power Isagen's Sogamoso hydroelectric plant. Topocoro was built at the foot of the Serranía de los Yariguíes Nature Park, a nature reserve ideal for preserving the habitat of jaguars, pumas, and ocelots, as well as other species endemic to the area. These factors make the reservoir the perfect place for activities such as ecotourism.
