Drift above the Clifton Suspension Bridge and the dramatic Avon Gorge. Pick out SS Great Britain, the Floating Harbour, and the pastel terraces of Cliftonwood and Hotwells. On clear days, spot both Severn Bridges to the northwest and the university spires and Cabot Tower to the east.
Your pilot uses subtle changes in height to find different wind layers, gently rotating the basket so everyone enjoys the view. It’s remarkably peaceful—no engine noise, just the soft hiss of flame and the occasional murmur from below.
Every flight is unique. A light breeze might carry you towards The Downs and Sea Mills, or over Bedminster and Arnos Vale towards Keynsham. The launch sites are chosen to keep clear of Bristol Airport airspace and to ensure good landing options.
Expect around 1 hour in the air, with 2.5–3 hours for the full experience (inflation, flight, landing, and return by retrieve vehicle). On landing, celebrate properly with a glass of Champagne (or a non-alcoholic alternative) once the balloon has been packed away, then drive back to Ashton Court.
