Begin your walking tour with incredible panoramic views from Skydeck, atop Queen’s Wharf, setting the scene for Brisbane through the World Wars and the country town that it still was in the 1940s, when war came to the South Pacific and tens of thousands of American forces were stationed here.

Explore the CBD along George Street, stopping at key points of Brisbane war history, controversy, and tension between Australian and American forces, then on to City Hall to discover its wartime role in the lives of the stationed Americans.

Make your way down Queen Street Mall and hear about chemical warfare and the vital role the famous Brisbane decoders played in the war effort. Continue past General MacArthur’s wartime headquarters before proceeding to the site of the infamous Battle of Brisbane (World War II’s secret and devastating battle between Allies on home soil).

Conclude the walk at Anzac Square, a stunning CBD greenspace and gallery commemorating the many battles fought and relationships forged in service by Australian men and women.
