Overview

Today Beverly Hill is one of the world’s most famous shopping districts. On this self-guided walking tour through the glamorous area and its surrounding areas, you’ll discover how it was transformed from barren desert and lima bean fields into a symbol of celebrity lifestyle.

Starting at the iconic sign in the Beverly Hills Garden Park, you’ll learn about the city’s surprising railway origins. The tour’s highlight is Rodeo Drive, where you’ll discover how this street evolved from a bridle path where horses had right of way, to an international shopping destination. You’ll stroll past high-end boutiques and down the Rodeo Drive Walk of Style pathway, which honours influential fashion figures with bronze plaques in the pavements.

By the end of this informative stroll through Beverly Hills you’ll have discovered how this remarkable city evolved from its agricultural beginnings to become synonymous with luxury, celebrity, and glamour.

Activity itinerary

Beverly Hills (Pass by)
Welcome to Beverly Hills and the fabled Rodeo Drive, one of the premier shopping zones in the country. We start our journey here in Beverly Hills Garden Park, a stunning 1.9-mile linear park stretching along Santa Monica Boulevard from Wilshire to North Doheny Drive.
Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts (Pass by)
Located on your right, the Wallis Annenberg Centre for the Performing Arts was originally the main Beverly Hills Post Office and was built in the Italian Renaissance style. It opened in 1934 due to the influence of Honorary Mayor and comedian Will Rogers and was designated Local Landmark No. 5 by the Beverly Hills Historical Society
Beverly Hills Visitor Center (Pass by)
On your left at a shopfront is the Beverly Hills Visitor Centre featuring a distinctive Beverly Hills shield, which is a half-height replica of the street signs that mark the city's entrances on major thoroughfares. This iconic shield is recognised worldwide.
Rodeo Drive (Pass by)
This street marks one of the most important retail spots in Los Angeles and is where Richard Carroll originally established the street as a place to buy men's clothing and has been home to Tommy Hilfiger, Brooks Brothers, and others.
Anderton Court (Pass by)
Located on your left at 332 North Rodeo Drive, the Anderton Court Shops is the only retail structure designed by the renowned American architect Frank Lloyd Wright who described the building as “a little gem of an unusual sort," due to its distinct Streamline Moderne and Art Deco spires, the spiral ramp, and central light well.
Beverly Wilshire, A Four Seasons Hotel (Pass by)
The landmark hotel is situated on the northeast corner of the former Beverly Hills Speedway site that we mentioned earlier. It's hard to imagine a world championship car race was held here in 1926, drawing 70,000 spectators.
The Church of the Good Shepherd (Pass by)
Imagine a place where Hollywood royalty comes to pray, confess, and maybe get a little divine intervention for their next big film role! Founded way back in 1923, this charming Mission Revival-style church has seen more famous faces than the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Spadena House (Pass by)
This whimsical wonder at 516 North Walden Drive started its magical journey in 1921 as a film studio set in Culver City. Designed by Hollywood art director Harry Oliver, it was originally just offices and dressing rooms. But in 1926, it pulled a Cinderella move and transformed into a real home, relocating to its current spot in Beverly Hills.
