We'll start the guided visit of Leuven at Martelarenplein, located in front of the train station.
Leuven, located in the province of Flemish Brabant, is one of the main university cities in Belgium. We'll discover the history of its prestigious educational institution in the University Library Square, whose bell tower is one of the symbols of the city. We'll also pass by other iconic monumental buildings, such as the Rectorate of the Faculty of Education.
We'll continue the tour in front of the famous Fountain of Wisdom, located next to the Grote Markt. In this central square, we'll see the façade of Leuven City Hall, a true masterpiece of Brabant Gothic. Right in front of the town hall, we'll also see the exterior details of St. Peter's Cathedral.
The next stop will be at Oude Markt Square, considered “the largest bar counter in the world” due to its wide range of dining options. Next, we'll pass by St. Michael's Church and St. Anthony's Chapel, which houses the tomb of Father Damian. Do you know why this character is so popular? We'll find out!
