Description

On this guided tour explore up close the fine sandy beaches and steep rocky cliffs of the wild Basque shoreline. See charming coastal towns and fishing villages, visit the islet of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe and capture mesmerising views of the Urdaibai Biosphere.

Head north and explore the rugged natural beauty of Spain’s coast. Cross the Transporter Bridge of Bizkaia – one of the world’s oldest transporter bridges – to travel winding roads through small towns and charming villages before you arrive at San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. Located on the coast of Biscay and set on a rocky cliff, this tiny islet is home to a 10th-century hermitage. Note: The access to the hermitage is not included.

Continue to the town of Mundaka, where you can find impressive views of the Urdaibai Biosphere – boasting golden sands against a backdrop of Holm oak forests, it provides a great photo opportunity! Then head to Guernica – the inspiration for Picasso’s landmark painting of the same name. Complete your tour with a visit to the renowned fishing village of Bermeo, the main port of the Basque Country.

The places we've visited were interesting. It was a very comprehensive tour. We were given enough time to roam around the place and take photos. Our tour guide, Stefan, is the best! Very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and corteous! I highly recommend this tour.

With very limited time in the Basque Country this tour provided use with the most coverage of this fascinating and beautiful area of Spain. My disappointment was the dual language experience. I booked an English-speaking tour and got a tour in Spanish and English. Blaze did his very best and a great job saying everything twice, once in English and once in Spanish. However, this left little time for him to take questions or converse with the 12 travelers. He must have been tired by the time we returned! I was left with questions about the Basque and what we’d seen because there was simply no opportunity to ask.
