What you can expect

  • Take a guided tour of the ruins within Simi Palace, one of the most important museums in Bari. Dating back to the 16th century, step inside a permanent archaeological exhibition and its adjacent church to acquire an understanding of what the city once looked like.
Browse through a display of artefacts on the ground floor, ranging from a model of an original settlement to fragments of prehistoric pottery. Gaze at rare examples of Italian-Mycenaean ceramics, proving the breadth of the city's commercial network in the Mediterranean.
Be led to the remains of a marvellous Byzantine church dating back to the 9th or 10th century, where the three apses, part of the altar, and some fragments of a fresco can still be distinguished. Additionally, see the remains of a Roman house discovered during the restoration work.
