What you can expect

Your local guide shares stories and knowledge about New Zealand throughout the day. Leave Auckland in the morning and drive south through the green farmland of the Waikato region.

    At the Hobbiton Film Set, join a 2.5-hour guided tour of the Shire from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films. See 44 hobbit holes, the Mill and the Party Tree, and enjoy a free drink at The Green Dragon Inn. After Hobbiton, enjoy lunch, which is included in your tour.

    Before Waitomo, stop at a farm to meet friendly animals. At the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, walk through the caves to see stalactites and stalagmites. Then take a quiet boat ride on an underground river beneath thousands of glowworms. Your guide makes more stops for photos on the way back to Auckland.
