Stop 1: Strahlenburg (Schriesheim)

Our first highlight is Strahlenburg, which rises above Schriesheim. After a short drive by van, we reach the car park right below the castle ruins. A very short walk leads us to our first destination – the viewing terrace. Here we will enjoy a refreshing welcome drink (e.g., a regional Bergsträßer wine or a soft drink). The view sweeps far over the vineyards and the wide Rhine plain.

We get back into the comfortable van and enjoy the panoramic drive to the next highlight. The route takes us north along the picturesque mountain road, past vineyards and historic villages, directly to Heppenheim.

Stop 2: Starkenburg (Heppenheim)

We drive up the Schlossberg directly to the gates of Starkenburg. We walk a few metres into the courtyard of the fortress, which was founded in the 11th century. The complex offers an impressive view of the old town of Heppenheim and the surrounding Odenwald hills. The visit invites you to take great souvenir photos in the historic ambience.

Stop 3: Auerbach Castle (Bensheim)

Finally, we head for the imposing Auerbach Castle. After a short drive, we reach the mighty ruins via a short, level footpath. Auerbach Castle is considered one of the most imposing castles in the region and is known for its accessible towers, the old pine tree on the shield wall, and a fantastic panoramic view. There will be plenty of time here for a final walking tour of the battlements before we bid farewell to the landscape.
