Besides its ecological value, the trail passes through areas rich in archaeological and ethnographic heritage, representative of the Terras de Aguiar. Hikers can observe old rural structures, such as mills, stone bridges, and levadas, as well as traditional villages that preserve the region's characteristic way of life. This route was designed to provide an experience of visiting and interpreting natural spaces, promoting knowledge of local biodiversity, with emphasis on aquatic mammals, such as the European otter.
