Welcome to Santa Catarina Barahona, where you'll cook as our Mayan grandmothers did. I learned this style of cooking from my grandmother, and today I share it with you: fresh ingredients from the local market, a clay comal and firewood, a grinding stone, and recipes that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Choose one of 4 authentic recado menus and cook it with your own hands from scratch:

More than a cooking class, Utum is a close encounter with Mayan culture. I'll teach you the meaning of each ingredient, we'll grind them on a stone, and you'll share the table like a family. You'll take away new skills and the taste of home.
Workshop note: Out of respect for the time and traditional cooking methods, we only prepare one menu per group in each 3-hour session. This way, we can cook at a leisurely pace, share the table together, and ensure that everyone enjoys the full experience.
