The tour is ideal for visitors who like to go off the beaten track and want to learn more about this important aspect of the city's past.

The tours are given by three retired historians with a passion for the history of the German occupation during the Second World War.
We do not visit The Anne Frank House, the Resistance Museum or the Hollandsche Schouwburg (the deportation centre). Tickets for these museums and drinks are not included.
About halfway through the walk, a short break will be provided for a coffee and/or a bathroom visit.

We walk past locations in Amsterdam that are related to the Second World War. We show photos of the entry of the German army (the Wehrmacht) and reflect on various resistance monuments and the storey behind them. We pay attention to the shooting incident on Dam Square on May 7, 1945. We discuss the deportations of the Jewish population and their fate in the extermination camps, Auschwitz and Sobibor. We have selected all the Jewish residents of one street in Amsterdam in which camps they died and have made a small book for you with photos and names. Many photos have been preserved that were taken by the Dutch resistance fighters, we will show several of these at the same location and discuss the background, such as the welcoming of the German army at the former town hall, now The Grand hotel. Where the Canadian army was later cheered.

Our group size is never more than 4 people. You will receive personal attention and can always ask questions during the tour. We do not work with an audio system because we prefer a personal approach. We walk at a pace of your choosing and therefore you can also participate in the tour with a wheelchair. In that case, it is advisable to email us so that we can take the coffee stop and the route into account. During the tour you will also receive information on paper from us that you can keep. Although the tour lasts about 3 hours, it may extend a bit and you can also have something to eat during the coffee stop, for example a late breakfast.
