Generalife
  • 45m
  • Admission ticket included
The Generalife is the garden villa used by the Sultans of Granada as a retreat and resting place. It was conceived as a rural village, where ornamental gardens, orchards and architecture were integrated in the immediate vicinity of the Alhambra. The name we give to the whole Generalife literally means Yannat al-Arif: “Garden of the Architect”, referring to the gardens and orchards that supplied fruits and vegetables to the Nasrid court. However, the palace to which we turn, conceived as the monarch's resting place, was what the poet Ibn al-Jayyab called "the royal house of happiness".
Alcazaba
  • 30m
  • Admission ticket included
The Alcazaba is the oldest part of the Alhambra. It was an urban fortified compound, whose function was to serve as royal residence to Mohamed I until the Palaces were finished, from there its function was purely military.
Palace of Carlos V
  • 15m
  • Admission ticket included
The palace of Charles V is a Renaissance construction by the architect Pedro Machuca. The palace is unique in its style, forming a square with a circular courtyard inscribed inside. It is the most outstanding work of the Spanish Renaissance.
Palacio El Partal
  • 15m
  • Admission ticket included
The Partal integrates archaeological and architectural remains corresponding to palatal stays. Its Arabic name means portico, and it refers to the remains of Sultan Muhammad III's residence, the northernmost and oldest. In these gardens you can see the remains of several palaces, since this area was inhabited by the Muslim nobility. The most important was the Palace of Yusuf III, with a plan similar to that of the Palace of Comares, sadly demolished in the 18th century. The Jardines del Partal is an amazing place to walk or stop during your visit to the Alhambra of Granada.
Nasrid Palaces
  • 40m
  • Admission ticket included
The Nasrid Palaces are a palace complex of the Alhambra of Granada formed by two independent palaces, the Palace of Comares and the Palace of the Lions, and the annexes, Mexuar, its construction dates from the first third of the 14th century. The Alcazar or Qasr al-Sultan was the palace area of the Alhambra, the core of the Nasrid kingdom. Sultans resided in this area, in addition to receiving a hearing, disposing of government business or managing the administration of the court.
