Venture into the dark countryside surrounding Akureyri on a small-group adventure in search of the Northern Lights.
Leave the city lights behind as your guide chooses the route based on weather forecasts, cloud cover and aurora conditions. Each evening is different, and the locations visited depend on where viewing conditions look most promising.
Along the way, learn about the Northern Lights and what to look for in the night sky. Your guide will help you recognise the aurora, which can begin as a faint glow before developing into a brighter display.
Stop along the route to watch the sky and enjoy the quiet of North Iceland after dark. Bring your camera and dress warmly, as part of the experience involves standing outside while waiting for the lights.
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and sightings cannot be guaranteed. Their brightness, colour and movement vary. Cameras can capture colours and detail that may appear fainter to the naked eye.
If no Northern Lights are seen during your tour, you are welcome to join us again free of charge, subject to suitable weather and operating conditions. Please contact Star Travel to arrange your retry.
Join with patience and a sense of adventure as we search for one of Iceland’s most memorable natural sights.
