Dating back to the 2nd century BCE, the Ajanta Caves are a collection of 30 Buddhist rock-cut caves adorned with intricate murals and sculptures depicting the life of Buddha and Jataka tales. The caves, hidden in a horseshoe-shaped gorge, provide a mesmerising insight into India's rich artistic heritage.

A grand testament to India's religious harmony, the Ellora Caves (6th–10th century CE) feature 34 rock-cut temples dedicated to Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism. The crown jewel is the Kailasa Temple, a breathtaking monolithic structure carved from a single rock, representing Mount Kailash, the abode of Lord Shiva.

Choose a day trip or 2 day trip from Mumbai or Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar ( Aurangabad ) by Flight or Road to visit both Ajanta and Ellora Caves.

If selecting Day trip Start early to cover major highlights like Ajanta’s murals and Ellora’s Kailasa Temple. Requires moderate physical activity due to walking and climbing.
