Your visit to the Aggstein Castle Ruins begins right at the castle complex, high above the Danube. You can easily get there by car; there is a car park right in front of the castle. Alternatively, marked hiking trails lead up to the castle ruins from the Wachau Valley.
Once you enter, you can move freely throughout the entire castle complex, which is open to the public. There is no time limit for the tour, which ends at the exit in the castle courtyard area. During your visit, you can explore the castle courtyards, battlements, viewpoints, and historic areas on your own. Audio guides are available on site to provide you with informative commentary on the castle's history. In the castle courtyard, the castle innkeeper, Siegfried, welcomes visitors for refreshments during opening hours.
Your visit concludes at the castle exit, from where you can go directly to the car park or continue your hike.
