Experience Panama’s rainforest from the water, above the canopy and on foot on our Gamboa rainforest tour. Combine a Gatun Lake boat excursion towards Monkey Island, the aerial tram and observation tower, the Sloth Sanctuary and ecological exhibits, followed by buffet lunch.

English- and Spanish-speaking guides accompany the resort activities. Hotel transport is optional and can be added during checkout.

START YOUR DAY IN GAMBOA

Activities begin at approximately 7:30 AM. Travel independently to the designated meeting point at Gamboa Rainforest Resort, or select the return hotel transport add-on.

If you book transport from eligible Panama City lodging, pickup is approximately 6:30 AM. Allow around 40–60 minutes for the journey, depending on traffic and your pickup location.

GATUN LAKE & MONKEY ISLAND BOAT TOUR

Board your boat and explore Gatun Lake and the Chagres River area, surrounded by rainforest-covered shores.

Your guide and boat captain search for monkeys around the forested islands. You may spot capuchins, howlers or tamarins, along with birds and other wildlife. Sightings vary because the animals live freely in their habitat.

Gatun Lake forms part of the Panama Canal. Commercial vessels may pass along the shipping channel as you explore the surrounding waters. This boat excursion does not pass through the locks or visit a locks visitor centre.

AERIAL TRAM & OBSERVATION TOWER

Continue aboard the Gamboa Aerial Tram for a gentle ride through the rainforest canopy. Look across layers of tropical vegetation and listen for birds as your guide introduces the forest ecosystem.

At the upper station, follow the route to the observation tower. Climb for panoramic views of the Chagres River, Panama Canal and surrounding rainforest. Wildlife sightings from the tram are possible but cannot be guaranteed.

SLOTH SANCTUARY & ECOLOGICAL EXHIBITS

Visit the Sloth Sanctuary to observe these remarkable animals and learn about their behaviour, diet and conservation.

Continue through the Butterfly House, orchid garden and frog exhibit for a closer look at Panama’s biodiversity. Displays, blooms and animal activity vary throughout the year.

Follow your guides’ wildlife instructions. Do not touch, handle or independently feed animals.

BUFFET LUNCH AT THE RESORT

Relax over an included buffet lunch at Gamboa Rainforest Resort after your activities. Nonalcoholic drinks are included with the meal.

Buffet dishes change. Advise us of dietary requirements before travel so we can discuss available arrangements.

FINISH IN GAMBOA OR RETURN TO YOUR HOTEL

If you booked transport, begin the return journey from Gamboa at approximately 1:30 PM. Arrival at your lodging follows the drive and depends on traffic.

This package operates Tuesday through Sunday and is closed on Mondays. Activity order and timing may change with weather and resort operations.
