Visit the highlights of Adelaide, including Chinatown, Central Market and Victoria Square before travelling to Adelaide Hills. Enjoy natural beauty in several peaceful towns along the way before experiencing Australia's oldest German settlement, the historic Hahndorf town.

Your trip begins with a visit to selected attractions in Adelaide, including Chinatown, Central Market, Victoria Square and St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, the most prominent Roman Catholic church in the city. Look out of the coach windows as you travel along the bustling King William Street, North Terrace and East Terrace, and Trendy Hull Street.

Later, escape the city buzz with a ride out to the Mt. Lofty Ranges for spectacular views of Adelaide from Glenelg to Gulf St. Vincent. Travel through the rolling hills, market gardens and vines of Piccadilly Valley and wander through the tiny, green villages of the Adelaide Hills, such as Crafers, Stirling, Aldgate and Bridgewater with its mill and waterwheel.

Continue with a visit to Australia's oldest German settlement, the Hahndorf town. Stroll under the elm trees along the main street and see picturesque cottages, craft shops and tea rooms, before heading back to the city centre.

Harhndorf is just a tourist trap. Perhaps taking the bus would have been better than paying $65pp. Having said that, Martin was an entertaining and knowledgeable guide/driver.

Five stars go to our guide Mike who was friendly, outgoing and informative. The city part of the tour however was minimal and limited to passing through the areas strictly located on the way to Hahndorf and completely omitting other, more important in my opinion, parts of town with wonderful architecture, museums, galleries and historic buildings. The German village of Hahndorf is a string of souvenir shops and restaurants lining the 900 meter stretch of the road. It is undoubtedly of great sentimental interest to visitors with German roots but otherwise, if you are not in the market for lederhosen, German soccer team jerseys, sausages, beer or a swine head dinner, there is little to keep you interested for more than 15 minutes. There are some nice views along the way, in particular the panorama of Adelaide from he top of Mount Lofty and you may even be lucky to see some Koalas on tree tops (we saw one).
