Immerse yourself in Accra's artistic soul on a walking tour designed for culture lovers. We’ve timed this experience for the late afternoon to help you beat the intense midday heat, allowing you to comfortably explore and end your day with a beautiful coastal sunset.
Your journey begins at the spectacular Artists Alliance Gallery. Overlooking the ocean, you will spend over an hour exploring three floors packed with authentic African paintings, intricate sculptures, and colourful Kente cloth.
Next, we take a short walk to one of Accra's unique cultural landmarks: a traditional fantasy coffin workshop. In Ghana, funerals are celebrations of life, and coffins are intricately carved to represent a person's passion or obsession: from giant trainers and aeroplanes to fish and luxury cars! Take plenty of photos, chat with the local artisans, and learn the history behind this world-renowned tradition. (We handle all the workshop donations, so you don't have to worry about tipping pressure.)
By 5:00 PM, the walking portion concludes as we arrive at one of Accra's beach clubs (such as Rehab Beach Club). Sit back, feel the ocean breeze, and watch the sunset during the beautiful “Golden Hour.” Enjoy a freshly cracked coconut, a chilled bottle of beer, or a glass of Sobolo (local hibiscus tea) to stay refreshed. Your tour officially ends here, leaving you perfectly positioned to order dinner and to enjoy Accra's nightlife at your own pace.
Itinerary (Approx. 2.5 to 3 Hours)
3:00 PM – Meeting Point: Meet your guide at the entrance of the Artists Alliance Gallery.
3:00 PM – Artists Alliance Gallery (1 hour 15 mins): Guided visit, sightseeing, and free time to shop for authentic arts & crafts.
4:15 PM – Erico Carpentry Shop (45 mins): Guided tour of the fantasy coffin workshop. See the carvings in progress and learn the cultural history.
5:00 PM – The Coastal Sunset (45 mins): Arrive at Rehab Beach Club. Relax by the water with the guide as the sun goes down.
5:45 PM – Tour Concludes: The guided tour ends at the beach club. Guests are free to stay for dinner and drinks, or the guide can help hail a safe Uber/taxi back to your hotel.
