What you can expect

  • Embark on an unforgettable 6-day adventure to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro via the Machame Route, one of Tanzania’s most scenic mountain trails. This challenging trek takes you through diverse landscapes, from lush tropical rainforest and open moorland to dramatic alpine deserts and glacial terrain.

    Begin your journey at Machame Gate, where you enter Kilimanjaro National Park and start your ascent through the rainforest. As you climb higher, enjoy spectacular views of the mountain, the surrounding plains, and the changing natural environment.

    Follow the trail across the Shira Plateau, pass the impressive Lava Tower, and climb the famous Barranco Wall. The route includes valuable acclimatisation opportunities to help your body adjust to the increasing altitude.

    With support from a professional mountain guide, assistant guides, porters, and a mountain cook, you will camp at designated mountain camps and enjoy meals throughout the trek.

    The highlight is the summit attempt, usually beginning around midnight, as you ascend towards Stella Point and continue to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres above sea level. Celebrate your achievement before descending through the mountain’s spectacular landscapes.

    This trek is suitable for physically fit travellers who are prepared for strenuous hiking and high-altitude conditions. Summit success is not guaranteed, and the guide may adjust the itinerary for safety.
