Overview

Cultural tour allows you to participate in local cultural activities, like festivals and rituals. As a result, the tourist can enjoy a genuine cultural exchange with the locals. We offer organised Tanzania Cultural Safaris that will immerse travellers in the real Tanzanian culture and life. The trip includes a visit to Chaga tribes, Maasai tribes, Datoga and Hadzabes (bushmen) tribes who live around lake eyasi, their language resembles the click languages of other bushmen further south in the kalahari. Arrive at Kilimanjaro international airport. Drive to Olpopongi in the West Kilimanjaro region, 74 kilometres from the airport taking us through the beautiful outback of West Kilimanjaro. Depending on the season, you can see game like zebras and elephants. On a clear day, you will have amazing views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. We arrive at Olpopongi Maasai Village a group of Maasai where the Village Chief welcomes you with refreshments.

After breakfast, we go on a walking safari where your guide will explain the past and contemporary life of the Tanzania Maasai. Get more information about the culinary culture of the Maasai while sampling a traditional tea (chai) prepared on the wood fire. A tasty lunch with a variety of local food highlights will end the activities inside the village. Maasai warriors will guide you along their paths and explain typical medicinal plants, extraordinary trees, tracks and the local wildlife. Also learn to use local tools, hunting techniques and fire preparation as part your bush excursion. At sunset, a group of Maasai men and women will gather around for a traditional sing & dance performances. A great BBQ-Buffet at the camp fire will provide you an unforgettable evening under the starry sky.

Lake Eyasi a middly alkaline lake about 55 Km long. Lake Eyasi is blessed with plenty of birds like Flamingos, pelicans, spoonbills, weavers, spurfowls, storks, barbets, egret and more. There will be able to visit the Hadzabe people who are known as bushmen, you will learn their culture of hunting in groups with bows and arrows for survival, they survive with what the environment provides. You will learn how they treat different diseases using their own medicine. You will visit their homesteads and learn more about them and hunt with them. Also you will visit the Datoga tribe in Tanzania who are a semi nomadic and pastoralist tribe of Tanzania who live in the northern part of Tanzania around the Manyara region. Datoga are also a Nilotic group of people and they live around Lake Eyasi as well as in the semi-arid areas of Tanzania. Marking on faces of the Datoga which are around the eyes are among the unique identification of the Datoga.

After breakfast today you’ll visit Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most beautiful natural sights in Africa, a place where you’ll experience otherworldly beauty with extraordinary wildlife. Watch as, from above, morning mist rolls up and over the crater rim, and notice how the steep walls suggest a place unlike any other. Down below on the crater floor, explore a lost world preserved in a state of pristine isolation, one that shelters lions and hyenas, elephants and black rhinos, flamingos, and golden jackals. There are also forests, hippo-filled lakes, a salt pan, and hyena dens, and you’ll never lose the sense that you’ve stumbled into a safari theme park where everything’s wild. You will have your lunch in lunch boxes where you will eat at the picnic area inside the park while enjoying the magnificent view of the Ngorongoro landscape. Later your driver will drive you to Karatu for dinner and accommodation.

After breakfast, we drive to our final destination on this epic safari – Lake Manyara National Park. This relatively small but diverse park, 120km west of Arusha, is so named for the shallow salt lake which covers a good seventy percent of the park’s surface area. Flooding and drying with the seasons the soft drink lake is home to thousands of flamingos as well as over 500 other bird species. On our exploration of the park, we will see monkeys, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, elephants, and with some luck, lions lounging in the trees. The park is known for its diverse landscapes; not only open grassy plains but also primate-filled woodlands and baobab-dotted cliffs. After another memorable game drive we, with our adventure at an end, start your journey to Kilimanjaro International airport for departure.
