What you can expect

Unveil the hidden treasures of northern Peru on this 5-day tour. Explore sites that date back to the ancient Moche civilisation and the Chimu empire, visit some of the best museums in the country, and see some of the greatest pre-Columbian sites in South America.

Day 1: Once you arrive in Lima, a transfer takes you from the airport to your hotel, where you can get settled in and take the rest of the day to explore the city.

Day 2: In the morning, see two of the best museums in the country. The Archaeological and Anthropological Museum offers a look at the cultures of Peru, while the Larco Museum features an 18th century mansion built atop a 7th-century pyramid, holding treasures that include an exclusive collection of pre-Columbian erotic ceramics.

Day 3: Visit Huaca Rajada, where the well-preserved tomb of the Lord of Sipan was found. After you see the Valley of Pyramids at Tucume, once an impressive urban centre, end the day with a visit to the Royal Tombs Museum of Sipan.

Day 4: Today's tour takes you to Trujillo to see the Casa Grande sugar hacienda, the Brujo Archaeological Complex and Museum, and a pre-Inca cemetery in the surrounding area.

Day 5: Visit the Temple of the Moon and the Temple of the Dragon before you arrive at Chan Chan, capital of the Chimu Empire and the largest pre-Columbian city in South America. The tour continues with a visit to the Huanchaco fishermen's cove, famous for its totora reed boats called Totora Horses.
