A sensory journey through the beating heart of the Alcantara Valley, where the power of water meets volcanic rock and centuries of winemaking tradition.
The experience begins along the banks of the Alcantara River. We will walk along trails that run alongside the water, admiring the lush vegetation and the incredible geological formations. The sound of the river will accompany us on this first part of the route, as we immerse ourselves in a unique microclimate that rejuvenates both body and mind.
Leaving the riverbanks, we will begin our ascent into history. We will stop in Francavilla di Sicilia, a picturesque village nestled in the valley, rich in authentic charm and traditions. From here, the trail will lead us to Castiglione di Sicilia, listed as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy.” We will explore its medieval town centre, its cobbled alleys, and its vantage points, which offer breathtaking views of Mount Etna and the entire Alcantara Valley.
Our tour will then wind through the heroic vineyards that characterise this fertile land. We will walk among the rows of vines where the excellence of Etna DOC wine is created, learning about the secrets of cultivation on volcanic soil.
To round off the experience in total relaxation, we will head to a local winery. Here, away from the hustle and bustle and surrounded by nature, we will enjoy the pleasures of a traditional picnic:
• Location: In the shade of a centuries-old olive tree and among the branches of a vine.
• Flavours: Typical local products sourced from the surrounding area.
• Atmosphere: The silence of the countryside, broken only by toasts made with the wines of the valley.
