3-Day Lalibela Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Fly from Addis Ababa to Lalibela and Visit the First Group of Rock-Hewn Churches

After arriving in Lalibela, you'll begin your exploration of the UNESCO World Heritage site by visiting the remarkable first group of rock-hewn churches, including the famous Bet Medhane Alem and Bet Maryam. These 12th-century churches are carved directly into the solid rock, showcasing intricate designs and historical significance. The afternoon will be spent marvelling at the impressive engineering and spirituality that defines Lalibela’s historical legacy.

Day 2: Visit the Second and 3rd Group of Churches and Asheten Mariam
Monastery

On the second day, you'll head to the second group of rock-hewn churches, and 2nd group head to Bete Amanuel and Libanos, including the iconic Bet Giyorgis, which is often regarded as the most beautiful and well-preserved of all Lalibela's churches. In the afternoon, take a scenic hike up to the Asheten Mariam Monastery, located on a mountain top with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The monastery, accessible by foot or mule, offers both a spiritual experience and stunning vistas over the town and its surroundings.

Day 3: After Breakfast Drive to Lalibela Airport

After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Lalibela’s airport, concluding your immersive journey through one of Ethiopia's most sacred and historic destinations.
