Tarangire National Park is a lovely and quiet park in Northern Tanzania that is most famous for its elephant migration, birding and quiet authentic safari atmosphere. For those that are looking to see more, it is easily possible to head to either of the parks within an hour. The entire area is a game reserve/ game protected area. Wild animals from both parks (Lake Manyara & Tarangire) do not recognise boundaries so they move freely around the lodge, and shores of Lake Manyara are close and very visible from the lodge.

You will witness herds of wildebeest and zebras especially during a short time-frame from around February and lasting for about 3 weeks where majority of the wildebeest calves. The Sea of grass provides little cover and the young make an easy prey for a variety of predators. Wildebeest calves can run minutes after they were born and within 3 days, they are normally strong enough to keep up with the herd. Later you will return to your camp for dinner and overnight stay on Full Board Basis.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area
The Ngorongoro Conservation Area spans vast expanses of highland plains, savanna, savanna woodlands and forests. Established in 1959 as a multiple land use area, with wildlife coexisting with semi-nomadic Maasai pastoralists practising traditional livestock grazing, it includes the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest caldera. The property has global importance for biodiversity conservation due to the presence of globally threatened species, the density of wildlife inhabiting the area, and the annual migration of wildebeest, zebra, gazelles and other animals into the northern plains. Extensive archaeological research has also yielded a long sequence of evidence of human evolution and human-environment dynamics, including early hominid footprints dating back 3.6 million years.

This part of the park is well-known for its healthy stock of other resident wildlife, particularly the big five named for the five most prized trophies taken by hunters. Some of these are Lions: the Serengeti is believed to hold the largest population of lions in Africa due in part to the abundance of prey species. More than 3,000 lions live in this ecosystem. African Leopard: these elusive predators are commonly seen in the Seronera region but are present throughout the national park with a population of around 1,000.

About 20kms across, 600 metres deep and 300 sq kms in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder.
