Located in the Ninh Bình Province in northern Vietnam, it was the political and cultural centre of the Đại Cổ Việt kingdom, which was established after the fall of the Tang Dynasty. The area is home to ancient temples and tombs, including the temples of Kings Đinh Tiên Hoàng and Lê Đại Hành.
